At Barnby & North Cove Primary School we promote Road Safety to all the children by holding assemblies and running competitions, which are are run by our Junior Road Safety Officers (JRSO’s).
We also hold Road Safety Share Afternoon’s when possible and invite different people into school, such as the police, lorry drivers and the coastguard to talk to our children about all sorts of safety.
We also have some Road Safety Mascots; a hedgehog called Trevor and a Parrot called Pip. Their names were chosen by having a competition and they can be seen hiding around the school awaiting a child to discover them; when a child does, they are awarded a prize!
The JRSO’s compile a scrapbook over the school year which is collection of competitions, photographs of visitors that have come into school in regards to Road Safety and photographs of our Road Safety Notice board which is in the corridor for all to see and is maintained by the JRSO’s and has a different theme each term i.e. Be Safe, Be Seen!
In the Summer 2016 Term, our Road Safety Officers visited the annual Road Safety Awards at Ipswich and were awarded Silver for their efforts – Well done Barnby & North Cove!
