Role of the Governing Body
Our schools are run in much the same way as any efficient business, through good planning, sound financial budgeting and continuous improvement. The task of the Governing Body is to support the head teacher and staff, as well as challenging their expectations, and providing a visible form of accountability under the direction of The Consortium Multi Academy Trust.
In consultation with the head teacher, other matters which the governing body are responsible for include ensuring that the National Curriculum is taught to all pupils and that pupil progress is monitored, assessed and challenged, health and safety of our school premises, safeguarding and many other aspects of school governance.
Governors aim to help raise standards by monitoring and evaluating progress towards the school’s priorities and targets. They compare the performance of their school to similar schools and help to decide the priorities for improving the school when the school improvement plan is being drawn up.
The Governing Body brings a wide experience of the outside world, provides effective links between the schools and the community they serve, and is accountable to them for the use of resources and the standards of teaching and learning in the schools.
